LAKE CADDO

Every year my best friend, Grace, and I go on a trip. We are college kids, so it isn’t a very extravagant one, but we know how to have fun (legal fun okay, mom). But this time we decided to invite our friend Journey along… and let me tell you, she is a journey.

This year we went to Lake Caddo, and let me just say…

It was great.

The first day we headed out at 10:30am (an hour and a half late but OH WELL, we needed to sleep). We stoped on the way at The American Cotton Museum. It was honestly pretty cool, but I had one issue. I am scared of mannequins… and they had TONS of them. It was extremely informational, and engaging… but I was so jumpy the entire time (LOL). #FirstWorldProblems …

Then, I’ll  be honest, I passed out in the car. It was a long night, and I needed a solid hour. SUE ME (please don’t). When I woke up we were nearly to our Air BnB. Now I’m going to be honest, the address routed us to the house across the street. I was so confused, so we awkwardly called them to ask about it.. that was such an awkward conversation. They seemed nice, but distracted.. when we left for dinner we saw them packing up their car, so I’m assuming they were packing and I distracted them (LOL sorry!). Still not sure if I checked in properly.. OH WELL! They seemed not to be their by the end of the night.

We decided to drive to Shreveport, Louisiana for dinner. We ended up at this place called Fin’s Seafood, and it was actually really good… Their staff was amazing too, we sat there talking to them for so long!

Then we slept, because that is what we do best (duh).

We woke up kinda bright and not so early, and ended up getting ready and going on a swamp boat tour (Captain Ron’s Swamp Boat Tour, if you haven’t been… you need to). If you happen to be in East Texas, you need to trek up to Caddo Lake and take this tour! I loved it.

We then went to a town called Jefferson, grabbed lunch and walked around a bit. It was fun, but not loads. Not a big shopping town unless you are an antique person, as in tea sets and doilies. Then we drove around to the Lake O’ Pines and basically drove around. A lady working in a shop in Jefferson told us, “It’s the best lake in the nation!!!” Honestly, not the truth, I loved Caddo Lake SOOOOO much more! It was more of a boating and water sport thing ((In my opinion, but I have never been boating so who really knows)).

After all of this, I was hungry so I forced Grace to stop at Chik Fil A. Of Course.

THEN… JUST WAIT FOR IT…

Journey got a tattoo.

From a guy named Redneck-Russ.

Insanity, right?!

So she gets the tattoo and we head back to the Air bnb and crashhhh. I mean, we crashed right after we stayed up a bit and chit chatted. Then, I made them wake up early and head back home.

All in all, it was an amazing trip. I would definitely go back! The lake was beautiful and the memories we made were amazing.
