Class Ring’s Your Classmates won’t Have

I love jewelry. I don’t always wear it, but I LOVE IT. But when it came to getting a class ring in high school I knew I wouldn’t wear it. I didn’t and don’t want to be reminded of high school everyday. Plus they looked weird on my hands and they were severely overpriced.

So I kept chugging along looking at rings. THEN COLLEGE. I started browsing last semester (I’m a junior right now) and I slowly started to fall in love with alternative class rings, the only issue was that they were so hard to find! I searched for so stinking long. But now my issue is trying to narrow it down… I don’t know what is more difficult, searching for rings I like or narrowing them down. Geez, can you imagine how long I’m going to take to pick out an engagement ring?

DAVID YURMAN

I was so hesitant to look at David Yurman rings. I personally think most of their jewelry is a little too bulky and not my style. BUT their newer collections are so gorgeous! I put the ring on my finger and I fell in love. I’m assuming it’s the same feeling someone gets when they choose a wedding dress. I don’t know for sure but it felt so right on my finger!

SARAH CHLOE

I love a good signet ring, they are gorgeous and timeless. Personally, I wouldn’t want my university’s logo (is it called a crest?) is on a ring (there are a few exceptions, you’ll see). But I’d love to treat myself to a cute signet ring for graduation. It’s like a nice pat on my back, you know? I deserve it.

SAN JOSE JEWELERS

Sooo this is my logo/crest thing exception (besides a&m rings… those things are so beautiful). San Jose Jewelers have an amazing collection. Their rings are modern and just gorgeous. They look so new and fresh! I have been talking to people who own one of their rings and I haven’t heard one complaint. Well, the only complaint I hear is that they didn’t customize. Not really, a complaint, complaint, but you get it!

SO, what are y’all’s thoughts? Let me know if you have any more suggestions.. Which one is your favorite? I need help!

Binge-Worthy Netflix Shows

I don’t have cable. It’s so expensive and I don’t think a lot of people around where I live even have cable. We have Hulu and Netflix. That’s really all I need, I don’t watch live sports unless I’m at my boyfriend’s house, or at a sports bar.

I’ve been binge watching on Netflix like I have all the time in the world lately. I procrastinate so much. To a point where it’s not funny. It’s like I actually like staying up until 2 am writing a 7 page essay. Why am I this mean to myself??

But this is all good news for you because of course, I have a list! I know, I can be annoying with my lists. But they help! At least that’s what my mom tells me.

  • Selling Sunset

This one is a bit newer, so there is only one season. But it’s so good! It’s about a real estate office in LA and all of the girls that work in the office. It’s billed as a ‘reality’ show, but it is definitely partly scripted. I mean, the Kardashians were partially scripted for a bit (maybe they still are? I haven’t watched that show in so long). But this show is making me want to go into real estate. And I worked in real estate (kinda social media stuff) and hated it! Maybe I need to move to LA and do reality there… I’m actually watching it right now. I can’t help it!

  • Hart of Dixie

Hart of Dixie tugs on your heart strings and is also very funny. I was really hesitant to actually watch this show and I have no clue why! You can watch it if you want to kinda pay attention or if you really need to zone out. I usually kept it on in the background while I’m doing homework or writing. You can kinda pick it up anywhere in the season and start watching, but there is also a plot line that flows.

  • New Girl

Okay, I am obsessed with this show. I keep it on all the time. I fall asleep to it, I eat with it on, I do homework with it on, I watch it even if it’s not in the back ground. I’ve rewatched these seasons twice (so far) and that doesn’t happen often. It’s about a teacher named Jessica Day that moves into a loft and has three guy roommates. It’s all about their friendship and the ups and downs of their life. It’s definitely a comedy but I am emotionally connected to the characters. I will cry when watching this.

  • The Office

Do I have to explain this one? It’s the office! It’s about an office and a ridiculous boss. By now you probably know if you like it or if you don’t. Just watch it. It’s so good.

  • Schitt’s Creek

Okay, they are actually filming their last season and I am really sad. Schitt’s Creek is a comedy about a rich family that literally loses everything and has to move to a small bum town. I am emotionally invested in these characters too, and I am very stressed out about this last season… I just want everyone to be happy! It’s very entertaining and there are so many funny little touches here and there. You actually end up rooting for the people you don’t think you would root for. One for the underdogs, am I right?

  • Gilmore Girls

Okay, this one is kind of generic too. Lorelai and Rory will always have a special place in my heart! Do I have to explain this one? It’s about a mother-daughter duo that has an amazing relationship. It’s funny, it’s emotional, it is a rollercoaster! There is a reason they came back with an additional season years later! Grab a cup of coffee and sit down for a binge!

  • Jane the Virgin

I was a bit hesitant to watch this one too. I watched a few episodes when it first came out and I wasn’t the biggest fan. But I decided to rewatch the series about a month ago, and I am so glad that I did. It’s so interesting and twisty I love it. It’s about Jane, who gets accidentally artificially inseminated (gross) and basically her life and relationships. It also has a novela twist and I love it! I love novelas but I don’t speak spanish and I don’t want to read the subtitles… so this is perfect for me!

Friday Fav’s

Yah, I’m hopping on the trend. Well, actually it’s 11:30 pm and I just drank Dr. Pepper and I don’t want to study for Macro Econ. I’m a communication major okay?!

So while I’m on this caffeine high and can’t stop thinking, I might as well batch some blog posts. Might as well be kinda productive while I procrastinate. Am I right, or am I right?

1.Grape Seed Oil

Okay, this stuff is magic. I don’t have terrible skin, but we all have our days. I struggle with cystic acne and dryness every once and a while. I usually apply this one a week (I use to apply it every day… my skin was literally glowing) with my fingers before I put on creams at night. I wait 30 minutes to an hour for it to soak in and then I apply my night cream. It has worked wonders. It soothes, tightens and brightens. You can also use it to cook with, but I have never done that. I got windburn on the back of my hands last year (I didn’t even know that was a thing) around the same time a friend got windburn on her face. I applied the oil morning and night along with lotion and my hands healed within days, her face too two weeks to heal fully. I told you, it’s magic.

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer

I used the Anastasia Brow Wiz for YEARS. When they came out with the Brow Definer, I literally laughed. The tip is huge, how could it make your brows look natural?! You’d be shocked. I just restocked and I am in love with this brow pencil. It is so easy to apply and it takes me half the time. If you are doubting this pencil, go into a Sephora and ask them to test it on you. You won’t regret it! Well, unless the person applying it sucks at doing eye brows, go to the girl with the best brows and ask her.

3. These Mom Jeans

I really didn’t think mom jeans would look good on me. I have a very awkward body and I typically have to wear skinny jeans. But these jeans are affordable (I use afterpay) and super cute on. I always get tons of complements on them. When I was working at Anthropologie people would stop me all the time and ask me where I got them, thinking they were from Anthro and I spent a good $200 on them. Jokes on them, I bought them for $80 (still more than I’d like to spend) at Urban Outfitters!

4. Superga Sneakers

I got these for myself as a birthday gift last year, and I am still obsessed with them. I throw them on with anything and everything. They aren’t the comfiest, but they are super cute. Mine are a little scuffed and dirty now, but I personally like shoes that are a little dirtied up. They are like cheaper and less comfy Golden Goose shoes with out the branding. Right?

5. My Favorite Cardigan

I bought this at Anthropologie and let me tell you, it is worth it. I got a discount because I was working there (I definitely would not have bit the bullet if I didn’t have a discount) and it was the best thing purchased there. I wear it all the time. It is heavy enough to get me through a cold morning, but light enough to get me through the day. It is so flattering on, this pic does not give it justice. I am actually considering getting it in different colors… I got mine in brown and grey (which is out of stock unfortunately, they don’t like to restock). But I am obsessed with all of the colors. It is so cute and classic. It’ll definitely carry to next year.

Instagram Profiles I’ve Been Loving

I have been scrolling through Instagram for quite a while. Meaning, since it came out when I was in 7th grade. We couldn’t post videos. We couldn’t post anything that wasn’t a square picture. The explore page was non existent and I didn’t really go on anything but FaceBook. The world is so different.

Nowadays I follow bloggers and personalities and celebs and maybe a friend or two. I like aesthetically pleasing feeds that have good content. I spend a little too much time on social media, instagram specifically, so I curated my feed to show me what I want to see. I know I’m weird, but I like looking at pretty pictures of cute clothes! It’s like my own version of a magazine.

Spring Break Picks

With spring break coming up I know a lot of people are gearing up to get lit. Or work your butt off while your co-workers are out of town (hollaaaa). But we can dream even if we are working out butts off.

This Maxi Dress Cover Up- I usually just wear a tshirt and flowy shorts as a cover up. But then what are you supposed to do if you have plans to get lunch after tanning at your mansion in California and you have 20 min to get dressed?! This dress. It is so cute and casual, it can be dressed up or down… It’s perfect.

These Steve Madden Slides- I have seen Hermes slides all over Instagram and I am DYING for a pair. However, I don’t have that much money to throw at a cute pair of shoes. Thankfully, Steve Madden offers a cute dupe!

This Anthropologie Top- I own this top in two colors. It is amazing. It is a simple piece that adds to your outfit, without distracting. It is so comfy and flowy, it is a great transitional layering piece. Even if you cover up the sleeves with a jacket you can still see the neck line (which I am in love with).

This Bond One Piece- I love one piece swimmies. I wasn’t a fan of the hole in the midsection last year, but it has grown on me. I feel like it makes the piece look more interesting and it kind of elongates you… Maybe it’s just me. But this swimsuit is amazing!

This Bikini Top- I owned a bikini top like this from Target and it was amazing until my sister stole it and lost it. It is nice take on the classic black triangle bikini.

The Anthropologie One Piece- Again, I love one pieces. The red and pink are a fun pop that will make you stand out in any crowd. I just love two tone looks. Plus the neckline elongates you’re torso. I just love anything that might make me look taller.

The Ruffle Top-  This top is a little trendier, but with a pair of cute shorts it would be perfect for day to day wear during spring break and into the summer. I have been loving puffy sleeves. Maybe we should bring back glamour shots too?

This Urban Outfitters Maxi Dress- Again, I am obsessed with maxi dresses. The lines on this dress, again, elongate and are sooo beautiful. The mix of horizontal and vertical stripes… I am drooling. Throw on a pair of heels, or a pair of white sneakers, and you are set.

This Going Out Dress- I don’t go out much but if I did, this is what I’d be wearing. I love simple pieces, you can add accessories to really make your fit pop.

These Earrings- I have been loving dangly earrings lately, but I HATE spending a ton of money on them. Earring trends go in and out so fast, it’s hard to keep up. Plus I always loose earrings. It’s sad. So, I find cute earrings on Forever 21. So, you won’t feel guilty if you loose them or if they break.

These Earrings Too- I just love Forever 21 earrings… okay?

February Wishlist

To be completely transparent, I cannot afford any of these pieces. BUT I wish I could. Hence the title, Wishlist … I have been loving these blush pallets lately. Light blush colors usually look terrible on me, so I have to wear the darker (ish) tones. It sucks. Especially around this time of year. But none the less, I dream.

This Free People top- I am obsessed with sleeves. I have been seeing a lot of sleeves with ruffles but they have been a a little too dramatic for me. I am more of a plain Jane when it comes to clothing. I feel like this top is a good mix of plain and pop.

These Quay Sunglasses- I saw Pia Muehlenback wearing Quay sunglasses in one of her videos and I became OBSESSED. They are really cute and I haven’t seen a ton of people with this particular pair.

These Steve Madden Booties- I have been in need of a new pair of flat black booties. When I saw these I fell in love! They are a staple with a bit of an edge.

A Juicer- TBH I have just been seeing celery juice everywhere and I just really want to try it. Everyone keeps talking about all of these benefits and I just want to try it for myself!

These Nike Air Force 1’s- I know, I know… They are super basic, but I want them. I feel like I would wear them almost everyday. They are so versatile and fun.

These Nike Air Max’s- I saw Payton Sartain wearing these over the summer and I cannot stop thinking about these. I think I am becoming a sneaker head. I can’t hep it, they are so comfy and adorable.

This Marc Jacobs Bag- To be completely honest I would usually not go for a bag that isn’t neutral. But I am just really liking the idea of a neutral look with a nice pop. This piece is gorgeous, and I know I would wear it non-stop even after V-day.

This Face Roller- I have been obsessed with facial massage and this would make the process so much easier. And more fun. I have seen these all over Instagram and I have been dying to try them out!

The Barefoot Dreams Blanket- So, I am a dedicated follower of The Skinny Confidential, aka Lauryn Evarts. She has been raving about this blanket. Along with everyone else and their mothers. I am a blanket hoarder so I have my eye on this.

Valentines Day Gift Guide

Okay, I have to admit that Valentines Day is one of my favorite holidays. But this is mainly because my birthday is the day after, so people give me all of their left over chocolate AND I get discounted candy.

It’s amazing.

When I was in second grade I put an empty tissue box on my desk and told people that it was my gift bin. So, if they had gifts they had to put it in the bin. They ended up giving me all the chocolate they forgot in their desks and I was LIVING.

So I get two days worth of gifts. This will suck for who ever I marry but I’m fine with it.

I am a very serious gift giver. I sit and think months in advance. So of course I have been planning gifts for Valentines Day since Christmas. I am insane, but it comes in handy i.e. I can solve your gift giving problems.

Venus et Fleur – These Flowers are so gorgeous AND they last a year. I just love flowers but they die so quickly. These are perfect!

Huggie Hoop Earrings – I have been obsessed with little hoop earrings. They are a classic piece that looks good with everything. Just make sure who ever you give them to have their ear’s pierced.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares  – Okay do I have to explain chocolate?

Initial necklace – I love the idea of an initial necklace with not my initial, by my boyfriends. Or you can even get your s/o multiple pendants with both of your initials or your kids initials.

Rebecca Minkoff Bag – I have been in love with Rebecca Minkoff ever since the mini mac went viral. This bag is so gorgeous, I love structured bags so of course I am drooling over this. You can throw a few knick nacks and tie a bow onto the chain so you don’t have to get a bag for it!

Anthropologie Mugs – I love coffee mugs. It is a little bit of an issue, but I’m working through it. TBH I don’t like ‘his and hers’ things but I feel like these are ambiguous enough to not look too cute-sy.

Knit Wrap – I love this wrap, it is so cute and cozy. Little things like this make my day when someone gets them for me. People usually stray from giving clothing as a gift because you never know what someones size is. BUT, at Anthropologie there are so many s/m or m/l items that it makes it easy to pick something out.

Hair Scarf – These scarfs are perfect! They are classic, chic, and add on to every outfit. Plus they are such a good, easy, and less expensive gift.

Drop Earring – These are for a person that is a little more artsy and wears more bold pieces. They are so cute, you can throw on a white top and jeans with these earrings, and your outfit is instantly cuter.

Contigo Mugs – Growing up my parents always loved these mugs. I never understood why UNTIL I started drinking coffee. These keep your coffee hot literally all day. I have left a hot cup of coffee in my car (on accident) at 8 am and got back to my car at 5 pm AND THE CUP IS STILL HOT. It’s insane. Add a gift card to their fav coffee place and some cute candy, AND YOU’RE SET.

Talkative Tuesday: The Four Year

Let me be real, this year has been crazy. Like hinging on Britney 2007 kind of crazy… But thankfully I am mentally stable (at least I think I am).

A few weeks ago I started classes at a four year university. For those of you who don’t know, I went to a community college for the first two years of school. It was amazing! I loved every second of it, but I was really to put on my big girl pants and dive into my major courses.

My first day of school pic… yes I was very tired and yes this is a real smile. Thankfully I had a lot of coffee this day…IMG_9465IMG_9066

I am currently a Communications major with a concentration in Pubic Relations and Advertising. TBH I haven’t actually declared my major yet… I have to wait until the end of the semester when I will hopefully have a 3.0 or higher. Apparently you start off with no GPA after you transfer from a community college.

[Halleluja]

I’m not saying my GPA was bad, but I am glad my Math grades are not reflected in my overall GPA. Regardless, I am at a bigger, new school and I have no clue what is going on. It’s actually amazing. I don’t know too many people. Also, since I am in my major courses, I am surrounded by communication majors… so everyone is talkative and wants to grow their network. Finally, I am not the only one in the room yapping on about internships!

Anyway, the first week I dressed kind of decently so I took a few selfies, you’re welcome I guess.

IMG_9186

So far I am really liking it… I am at the University of Texas at Arlington (my moms alma mater) and it is waaayyy better than community college. At least for me.

Stay tuned next Tuesday for the next #TalkativeTueday!

LAKE CADDO

Every year my best friend, Grace, and I go on a trip. We are college kids, so it isn’t a very extravagant one, but we know how to have fun (legal fun okay, mom). But this time we decided to invite our friend Journey along… and let me tell you, she is a journey.

This year we went to Lake Caddo, and let me just say…

It was great.

The first day we headed out at 10:30am (an hour and a half late but OH WELL, we needed to sleep). We stoped on the way at The American Cotton Museum. It was honestly pretty cool, but I had one issue. I am scared of mannequins… and they had TONS of them. It was extremely informational, and engaging… but I was so jumpy the entire time (LOL). #FirstWorldProblems …

Then, I’llĀ  be honest, I passed out in the car. It was a long night, and I needed a solid hour. SUE ME (please don’t). When I woke up we were nearly to our Air BnB. Now I’m going to be honest, the address routed us to the house across the street. I was so confused, so we awkwardly called them to ask about it.. that was such an awkward conversation. They seemed nice, but distracted.. when we left for dinner we saw them packing up their car, so I’m assuming they were packing and I distracted them (LOL sorry!). Still not sure if I checked in properly.. OH WELL! They seemed not to be their by the end of the night.

We decided to drive to Shreveport, Louisiana for dinner. We ended up at this place called Fin’s Seafood, and it was actually really good… Their staff was amazing too, we sat there talking to them for so long!

Then we slept, because that is what we do best (duh).

We woke up kinda bright and not so early, and ended up getting ready and going on a swamp boat tour (Captain Ron’s Swamp Boat Tour, if you haven’t been… you need to). If you happen to be in East Texas, you need to trek up to Caddo Lake and take this tour! I loved it.

We then went to a town called Jefferson, grabbed lunch and walked around a bit. It was fun, but not loads. Not a big shopping town unless you are an antique person, as in tea sets and doilies. Then we drove around to the Lake O’ Pines and basically drove around. A lady working in a shop in Jefferson told us, “It’s the best lake in the nation!!!” Honestly, not the truth, I loved Caddo Lake SOOOOO much more! It was more of a boating and water sport thing ((In my opinion, but I have never been boating so who really knows)).

After all of this, I was hungry so I forced Grace to stop at Chik Fil A. Of Course.

THEN… JUST WAIT FOR IT…

Journey got a tattoo.

From a guy named Redneck-Russ.

Insanity, right?!

So she gets the tattoo and we head back to the Air bnb and crashhhh. I mean, we crashed right after we stayed up a bit and chit chatted. Then, I made them wake up early and head back home.

All in all, it was an amazing trip. I would definitely go back! The lake was beautiful and the memories we made were amazing.
